Susan Kneeland

Susan Kneeland is one of the most renowned and popular artists in the Merrimack Valley. She has earned a living as a professional fine artist and instructor of art for over 15 years. Her work is sought after due to its brilliant colors and the wide variety of subject matter that inspires her. She has a lengthy list of collectors who avidly attend her gallery exhibits. Susan has shown her artwork in solo exhibitions on the east coast and has also had her work in numerous group exhibits.

 Susan’s artwork is her passion. She creates plein air during the New England summers, and is a diligent studio artist in all seasons. She regularly attends weekend workshops to create portraits by studying live models and has mastered painting the human figure as well.

Susan is an advocate for the arts and donates work to benefit many worthy causes. Some of the benefactors of her support are The Essex Art Center in Lawrence, MA, The Friends of Animals, and The Humane Society, of Salem, NH, The Audubon Association and The Nature Conservatory, as well as The No Place for Hate Organization of Newburyport, MA.

Ms. Kneeland devised an art therapy program which she teaches in several area nursing homes helping the elderly population to make artwork. In addition to this, Susan teaches private lessons in her NH studio to 26 students each week who range in age from seven to eighty-plus, and in talent, from beginner to advanced. Over the years she has helped hundreds to achieve artistic success and has guided many students into art colleges and art careers. Susan has a 100% success rate for national art college admission for her students. She hosts an annual student exhibit with over 150 pieces of current student work at The Buttonwoods Museum, in Haverhill, MA, to enhance and promote her student’s abilities.

Susan has sold an extensive amount of fine photography. She has done promo work for other artists as well as for several businesses.

 Ms. Kneeland has had the opportunity to paint in Europe and she has also taken a photography excursion to Asia. Traveling provides her with inspiration.

 Susan is a member of the Haverhill Art Association, the Newburyport Art Association and is listed on The Empire Who’s Who list where she is honored as an accomplished and successful entrepreneur. She has been a juror for art exhibits and also experience as an auctioneer for art.

NAA Gift Shop Volunteers

    Connie Rossetti, Lisa Victoria, Pat Bashford, Judith Bly, and Susan Kneeland have transformed the gift Shop! This dedicated group of volunteer members review all artwork submitted and select items that that represent a wide variety of media and price points that appeal to all our visitors. Our sales reflect their hard work- up 45%!

    The Gift Shop job is a time consuming task. These volunteers meet on a regular basis to go through all items submitted for review. They keep accurate inventory- record sales, log in and label new work, and rotate out old work- to keep the look fresh and seasonal. Finally, they display the art so it is visually intriguing. These volunteers are invaluable to the organization and we appreciate their constant support.

    Accomplished and recognized, Susan Kneeland has certainly made her mark on the art world. Years of group and solo exhibits have helped to make Susan's work popular. A long list of collectors and hundreds of paintings and commissions have provided Susan with a way of living she feels privileged to enjoy. By instructing Susan has helped many others to attain art as a career choice, and she continues to teach private lessons in her studio in Plaistow, NH. Group pastel lessons at six nursing homes and adult day care centers in the Merrimack Valley area are recipients of an art therapy program Susan conceived. An advocate for the arts, Susan donates hours of her time and artwork to help organizations that empower the arts.
